God bless Shania Twain, because I don't know what a lot of broken hearted American women would be doing right now without her music. Probably sitting outside a gas station eating those $1 ice creams. Long live Shania Twain.
God bless Ken (from work) for giving me a Kit-Kat everyday at work. It keeps me going till we close shop. However I am now dependent on that little amount of sugar every night to make it through the shift haha! Jokes. (No picture. Ken doesn't let us take pictures of him haha)
God bless the best teacher I've ever had- Mr. Riley. First, he's helped me discover my passion, broadcast journalism. But he's also the only teacher who really teaches you things you need to know. It's not the ridiculous math stuff you're never going to use, or the vocabulary words you'll never use in your life again. He actually teaches and tells you about life. He teaches a class where you need to work with deadlines and develop communication skills. I've started to view him more as that crazy uncle your parents don't want you around.. but he's still your favorite. :)
God bless my best friend, Skye, who taught me how to have fun. I'm the type that would rather work in the studio than go out to lunch with friends. I do it almost everyday haha. Yet, she forces me to live a little and take risks. Without her I wouldn't have had the best summer ever.
These days I always hear my friends say how much they miss their college friends. I always want to slap some sense into them and say, "Hey be grateful and don't pout! At least your best friend isn't in another country halfway across the globe! At least you can see and chat with them. You don't have to wake up extra early just to chat with them or stay up extra late. When you need to talk to them or you just need your best friend, you can text them. I have to message her on Facebook because of insanely high international phone rates!" However, I always hold my tongue. That little pout sesh would definitely make quite the scene.
Lately everything has reminded me of Skye, even the stupid little Emojis. I stared at one of the camels and thought of how her dogs always attacked me when I entered her house. Then I laughed when I remembered that I would call her every time I was outside her house because I was afraid of all 6+ of her dogs haha. Then I laughed even harder because a camel Emoji reminded me of this. Talk about pitiful. Geez.
Then each time I skim through Daily Odd Compliments I think of Skye. I reminisce on those nights when we'd text each other our favorite ones. We sounded like such lesbians hahaha! (I bet I still do now!) I even experience moments now when I grab my phone and I'm about to text her a funny one when I remember that I can't text her! Oh well..
Tomorrow will be the start of my best friend's foreign exchange trip. It's unbelievable to think that it's already here! So tomorrow begins the year of remembering. Remembering what a great friend she is, remembering how she has stood by me and supported me, remembering all our jokes and adventures.
One of my favorite quotes is one that she showed me one day while watching our favorite show-The Walking Dead :) :)
"How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard." -Winnie the Pooh
The tennis tournament in which Skye and I became best friends :)
Despite how much I'm going to miss her, she needs to do this. We all find who we are in different places and ways. I have begun to find myself in the studio at school. Skye, I am certain, will find herself in Belgium.
Au revoir pour l'instant, mais je vous verrai bientót!
When one isn't at the register at work, then they're keeping up with the constant changes and maintenance of the store. Billions of shirts need folding because tourists have an urge to want to purchase the one at the bottom of the stack. (OK, not billions.. but you get the point :) I tend to exaggerate) The shirts are wrecked easily and quickly and it's our job to make sure the store looks nice. Appearance is everything, right? So this means I have a lot of free thinking time. Not a bad thing...
One day I went into work still in the NCIS mindset. The episode I was still thinking about was the season 9 finale- "Till Death Do Us Part." It's the one where a father seeks revenge on the United States (specifically NCIS) after his son's death. The episode was so great I was still thinking about my sisters' reaction to the father's terroristic actions when I got to work. My sisters repeatedly said that he was a crazy, disgusting, psychopath. As a journalist, I have learned to look at all sides of the story. I put myself in his shoes and sort of began to understand why things like this happen. If someone you cared about was slaughtered you would also want revenge. I think I would have to be very strong to hold myself back from committing such awful action. Wouldn't we all seek revenge? It's crazy what I think about, right haha? I was trying to understand the reasons behind murders hateful crimes.
On a brighter note... My mind is not filled with such dark, deep thoughts at work. Most of the time I'm laughing with my lovely coworkers... or just playing with the guns ;)
Jenny, the cutie on the far right who knows how to properly hold a remington (she recently shot her first buffalo), had the funniest blonde moment last night. Skye was kind enough to get the three of us some ice cream and also asked one of the older guys if he wanted some did too, because that's the polite thing to do! He declined and said, "Oh that's ok. It gives me heartburn. Thanks though." Jenny looked at him and gave him the look. Who could decline ice cream from the oh-so-wonderful Dairy Queen?! She said, "But it's cold!!" hahaha there comes a point every night when we're too tired to think before we say something. The ice cream was very much needed.
After laughing at Jenny's moment for a few minutes we went back to work and I went back to thinking. I was thinking about how everyone, and don't say you don't do this, changes their voice when they talk to someone on the phone. Or... when you help someone at the register. I told this to Jenny and Sam and they agreed! I noticed that Jenny, who is going to major in elementary education, speaks to everyone like they're in kindergarten. "Ok. I'll help you right over here, sir." I do it too.. Every dang time someone comes to the register I say, "Are you ready?" And when I'm done checking them out I mentally slam my head against the glass. Of course they're ready to check out! Why would they look at me expectantly and set their stuff on the counter?! Duh!
Earlier that day.. yes most of this happened yesterday.. it was an extremely interesting and enjoyable day.. I was thinking about how much I love when those on tours come in to the store. The store is packed full like popcorn exploding out of the bag. I have so much to do between checking people out and helping others find what their hearts desire. The time passes by much faster. I've noticed that the tours with a lot of kids all have something in common. The kids are all divided into small groups and given a group name. It's very smart! Yell out your team name and the kids come crawling back to you like lost puppies. Very smart indeed! So I thought hmmmm... and began to day dream... In my dream I was sitting on the airplane to Boston with Mr. Riley. I asked him, "Mr. Riley if you really loved me you would promise to do this ok?" He promised he would do whatever I asked of him and then I turned to the girls on the plane. I whispered to them that we were to make up a ridiculous team name that Riley would have to yell out in Boston haha. So we began to brainstorm a team name that we could all agree on. I thought, "Well what do we all have in common?" Nothing. And this is true. We're all so different and yet great friends. The next thing I said was hilarious.. and remember this was a dream... "So who here has AIDs? No one? Good! We shall be called Those without AIDS." And since Mr. Riley promised he had to call us that in the crowded city of Boston, MA. Ahhh what I think about at work...
You all know my best friend, Skye :) We have a "To-Do List Before Belgium" which is kind of like a bucket list.. but it needs to get done before she goes off to Belgium in August. I've never had another fellow blogger do a guest post, so I put it on the list... Please put your feet up, your laptop on your belly (I know I'm not the only one that does that on a lonely Sunday night!), and enjoy her humor :)

Let's all admit it. I'm sure almost every girl has thought about their future.. about what their house will look like, how many kids they'll have.. more importantly, the qualities of their future husband...aaaand what they're going to name their kids!
I don't have any idea "what I want to be when I grow up," but about this stuff..? Oh girl, I know what I want.
House: When I was younger I wanted to be an engineer of some sort. So, I was constantly drawing out floor plans. I remember I would show my parents and they would be proud and say, "You better marry a millionaire with that dream house." haha.
Now I tell them that if I don't marry a millionaire I'll marry a contractor. haaaa jokes, jokes.
Every girl needs a millionaire. Realistically however, I dream of having a home with a nice view.. I've always really liked colonial style houses.. I guess we'll see about the house!
How many kids: Two. Why? I think I've had my fair share with three younger sisters. I would like to have either 2 girls, or a boy and a girl.
Husband: Tall and handsome. Nuff said. Jokes, jokes. I dream of a tall, dark-haired gentlemen who either speaks Spanish or learns it for me :)
Baby Names: I want my kids to have long, traditional and possibly unpronounceable names like mine, Erendira. For a girl I'm thinking, Celeste, after my best friend who moved away a few years ago, maybe Lucero...?
However I promised my best friend Skye that I would name my kids Lupito and Lupita if she died before she got to see them. Ridiculous I know, but a promise is a promise.
-Abiguelita (Everyone has started calling me that after Skye turned it into a habit)
---Awesome---
-The Voice. I was a little resistant to the thought of having Usher be a coach, but he has done so well! My favorites go Michelle Chamuel and Danielle Bradbury (tie between those two), Sasha Allen, Swon Brothers and Amber Carrington. There is so much talent on this show. I get blown away every single episode.
-Michelle's I knew You Were Trouble performance
-Danielle's Please Remember Me
-Sasha's I Will Always Love You performance
-I now close the store at ten, right? But when the doors shut we all run around haha. No idea where all the energy comes from
-Skye texted me the other day at like 6 in the morning.. crazy, but for good reason! Her host family contacted her! She now knows what three towns/cities she will be staying in when she goes to Belgium... and the best part.. each family has younger siblings for her! I prayed to God everyday that she would be blessed with the experience of younger siblings. I know how bad she's wanted that. The first family has two twin 9-year old girls and a boy about our age. Don't freak out. The boy will also be doing foreign exchange in Florida while she's there. Her second family also has two kids, one boy and one girl. 9 and 12 I think? Her last family has one 17-year-old girl. I can't believe this is really happening!! (I just convinced her to start a blog too!)
-Sam, a new coworker, thought I was 23 :) :) I always make people guess how old they think I am. However I usually get that I look younger than I am. Oh well. Everyone says I'll really like having a young face when I get old.
-Finding your favorite sports bras literally underneath the hamper... but after the tennis tournament. of course, of course.
-Eating multiple slices of pizza, brownies and salad and then going to the carnival #YOLO.. and not throwing up :)
-And the best but not least... Yesterday I got a very special phone call at work from Dennis Ambriz!
He said he just got home from his vacation and is going to mail me a special package including an autographed picture and his movie! I died.
-Don't tell me I'm the only one that sings while they're driving... What else am I supposed to do when I'm driving by myself? Well the other day I'm driving, windows down, singing my heart out...nothing new.. I park and get out of the car to these guys clapping and whistling. #awkotaco and then they were like "Hey, girl in the red shirt!" I pretended not to hear that part and walked fast. Ladies, creepy guys like that are why we should always carry knives with us.
-So I'm dropping off Nathalia at a friend's house but we can't find the house. We're driving slowly trying to read the numbers.. I hate when houses don't have their house number visible grrr..and then this little boy is craning his neck so far he must have been possessed by a demon like in the movies when I drove by.. and another little boy must have thought I was gonna ask him if he wanted some candy and then shove him in the trunk of my car.. Of course the only house that didn't have their number out was the one.. and the boys lived there. I discovered this when I dropped her off at the front door and they answered.. talk about awkward
